Exploring Human Resource Development and its Impact on Adult Learning Environments in the U.S. and UK

This paper considers the current provision of adult continuing education and lifelong learning in the United States and the United Kingdom. Twentieth century has witnessed the miracles of Human Resource Development (HRD) activities reflected through increase in GNP and overall productive activities. As such, an analysis of adult learning and education will be analyzed in conjunction with the human resource development issues, trends and policies so as to provide a highly in?uential approach to understanding the role of adult learning in wider economic, social, and political development, drawing on key reports and other recent literature. It concludes that there is a future for adult continuing education and lifelong learning in the United States and the United Kingdom, but more so one based on the current needs of the economy.
